There’s this woman

*Begin Rant*

So there’s this woman who comes into my work 3-4 times a week (I work at a gambling facility w/5 machines) and she is just the angriest person I have ever met.

Most people get upset when they lose – understandably so – but she takes it to a whole new level. She’s aggressive towards the machine and mutters profanities to herself and the machine. And not quietly. I’m about 10-12′ from the game she plays and I can audibly hear her.

What bothers me the most though is that she’s getting upset that she’s losing but playing on the minimum bet. You can’t expect to win more than $100 from betting .40 all the time. Most people who win (on that game) are betting $2.00 and it pays out handsomely. I had a woman yesterday who was up to $700+ but that’s a whole other thing**.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, who is she really mad at; the game or herself?

My guess is the game because she’s an irritable witch with a b.

** the woman who won $700+ kept betting with her money and gambled it down to $500. I was internally screaming at her to cash out. I wasn’t saying leave, I merely wanted her to cash out so she could keep that money and to put in like $20 if she really wanted to keep playing. I find myself getting irrationally angry at customers over things like this.

Untitled

I used to be very artistic. I loved expressing myself creatively through many different outlets. I guess I get that from my mother who is so talented and crafty.

Growing up, I had a lot of ideas in my head and I always was looking for a way to get them out; whether through art or writing. But life and adulting got in the way and took over.

I haven’t allowed myself to be creative like this in a while. But with the long boring hours at work with nothing but a pen and paper, something was bound to happen.

Every once in a while when Matt’s mom would come to town, we would have an art day. Which I love. It felt good to create again. But those days are few and far between.

My “skills” are rusty at best, but I don’t think I would be happy if these drawings were perfect (or even if they were finished).

It’s sort of like on here: I get out that idea or burst of creativity and then I’m satisfied.

I’m proud of my “art” and I hope to continue to create in the future. Hopefully with better materials. Currently I’m drawing on the back of our “Fun Facts of the Day.”

My Top 10 Favorite Albums Ever!

Ok so I’ve been wanting to post this for a while but unforts I can’t bring my laptop to work and I really ddin’t want to post this from mobile because, lets be honest, its a bitch to write a long post on your phone or iPad.

My musical intersets have changed over time and morphed into a multi-genre enjoyment. But my all-time favorite genre is that of the pop-punk variety. I would consider that to be the longest interest I’ve had in music. But you’ll notice that not all these albums fall into that genre. Well that’s because I have varied taste, but you will notice that they all are not that odd or obscure.

So lets do this thing!!

10. Final Straw by Snow Patrol

This was my first time in the mellow and slow style of music and I could not have chosen better. This album still brings me back to those slow summer afternoons in my room with this on repeat listening to the world outside.

9.Talk That Talk by Rihanna

So this is a little embarrassing but this is seriously one of the best albums that I have ever heard in my life. I used to bump this all around town. I know all the words to every song. Its so good.

8. Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem

This was the first album that I bought with my own money. I thought I was such a little gangster. Its sad thinking that I thought I was so fucking cool. But fuck it. That album is still so good to me.

7. Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park

Those of you who know me know that LP was my favorite band for the longest time. They’re still good, just not like they were when I was younger. From 6th-9th grade I loved them, until I was introduced to The Used and it was all downhill from there. But this album is not only the first album of theirs that I had but it’s also the best one.

6. Room for Squares by John Mayer

This album brought me so much joy when I was younger. Not only is every song on here fantastic, but I actually could sing along and not sound that far off! I have a love for his voice. In fact, I have love for unique voices and his tickles my fancy.

5. We All Need a Reason the Believe by Valencia

So I’m sure people reading this list who know me are wondering why Valencia is so high (low?) on the list. It has nothing to do with my love for them, but if I’m being honest there was never one album of theirs that I could listen to all the way through and love every song. Until recently. I went back and listened to this album when I was having a rough morning and needed some pep in my step and this did the fucking trick. God I miss these guys so much and it still breaks my heart that they’re not a band anymore. I miss them touring, I miss their music, I miss THEM. This is the only band on the list that I’m personally friends with.

4. The Used by The Used

Jesus. The Used was my favorite band for the longest time. They still hold a special place in my heart and every time I stay up late I think of them (4 o’clock in the fuckin morning) and how they made me feel when I was younger. They helped me through my “angsty” teenage years and I still enjoy listening to them now.

3. From Under the Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy

This was the first FOB album I ever heard and I haven’t stopped loving it ever since. I still spin (ok I don’t have the CD anymore) in my car. Just pure joy is the only way I feel when I listen to these songs.

2. This is a Stickup Don’t Make it a Murder by Hit The Lights

This album…I can’t even describe the feeling of nostalgia that even thinking about this album brings me. Just so good. Every song. Plus my mom really likes this album. Or at least one song on it. I’m sad that the lead singer left after this album but HTL is still one of my favorite bands.

1. Get Stoked On It! by The Wonder Years

This band changed my life. This album brought that change. Out of every band in the word, this one is the one. This album is just so random and silly that you have to love it. It lets me get out all my feelings. All of them. This was the first album I ever heard from them and I still have love for it. They have like 6 albums out now and I love every single one, but this one is like…special to me.

So there you have it, my favorite albums of all time. These are not at all the only albums that I like at all, but these are the ones that I would choose to keep if I could only keep 10 albums. They’re all little pieces of me and hold my life in their hands. They define me and who I am.
